CITY OF MARION POLICE DEPARTMENT TESTING
NOTE: The Marion Police Department is NOT accepting applications at this time. We will begin accepting applications sometime around February 1, 2011. Please check back at this web site regularly for updated information.
An application and a list of requirements is available as a packet and can be obtained at the Marion City Hall, 1102 Tower Square Plaza - Marion, IL 62959, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, or at the Marion Police Department, 100 South Madison Street - Marion, IL 62959.

Completed applications must be returned to the Marion City call no later than 4:00 p.m., Friday, MAY 7, 2010. Those applicants submitting incomplete or late application packets will have their applications rejected and will NOT be allowed to participate in any of the testing processes.
Testing will consist of: 1) physical agility test (P.O.W.E.R. test) http://www.ptb.state.il.us/pdf/POWER.pdf 2) written examination and 3) an oral interview.
The PHYSICAL AGILITY TEST (P.O.W.E.R.) will be held on Saturday, May 15, 2010 at 9:00 a.m. at the Marion High School. Qualified applicants should meet at the girls gymnasium located adjacent to the Cuss Wilson gym on the west end of the school. (The entrance doors are on the southwest end of the building). Those successfully completing the agility test will be eligible to take the written exam. The date and location of the written exam will be provided at the conclusion of the physical agility testing.
Age requirements are between 21 and 35 years of age with compliance to 65 ILCS 5/10-2.1-6.
All successful applicants will, at a minimum, be subject to drug testing, background and financial checks, and physical as well as psychological evaluations. Those offered employment must be willing to sign an employment agreement. Any new hire will be placed on probation for a minimum of 18 months.
Note: The City of Marion is currently not anticipating hiring any new police officers. This testing process is simply being utilized to refresh the current potential application pool list. Those applicants who successfully pass all tests will be interviewed and placed on the potential employment pool list which they shall remain a part of for up to two (2) calendar years.
